1. About These Terms

VIVA Portugal is an independent publication operated by Adilson Cláudio Jorge Sonhi, based in Portugal. These Terms of Use form an agreement between you and VIVA Portugal regarding your use of the Site. The service is not directed to children. Some parts of these Terms refer to account features that are only available if you create an account and sign in.

2. Editorial and Informational Content

VIVA Portugal is an independent editorial publication about Portugal. Our articles may cover topics such as travel, living in Portugal, residency and immigration-related information, documentation, work, money, public services, taxes and administrative matters (such as obtaining a NIF), culture and lifestyle.

You can browse the Site without an account. Some features - such as posting comments and saving articles - require you to create an account or sign in with Google. You can update your display name or delete your account using the features available in your account settings. There are no paid subscriptions, premium accounts or memberships.

If you post comments or other content, you are responsible for what you submit, and you keep ownership of your content. You grant VIVA Portugal a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and moderate your content only as needed to operate the comment feature and the Site.

You agree not to post content that is illegal, abusive, harassing, threatening, defamatory, deceptive or spam, that impersonates someone else, or that contains malware. We may moderate, edit or remove comments, and we may withhold or remove content that breaches these Terms or applicable law.

5. Acceptable Use

When using the Site, you agree not to:

• Use it for any unlawful purpose or in breach of these Terms
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site or its systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the operation or security of the Site
• Carry out bulk extraction or automated abuse, circumvent technical protections, or send excessive requests
• Reproduce or build a database from VIVA Portugal content, or substantially reuse it, without permission

Normal indexing by search engines is welcome and is not restricted by this section.

6. Intellectual Property

The editorial content on this Site - including text, photography, graphics, branding, design, and the software and materials that make up the Site - belongs to VIVA Portugal or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark and other laws.

You may read the content for personal use, share links to it, and quote short extracts where the law allows, with attribution where appropriate. You may not republish whole articles, copy substantial parts of the Site to republish elsewhere, use the content commercially without permission, or carry out mass scraping that harms the service or substantially reuses the content. The Site links to third-party sources such as government websites, businesses, transport operators and other services. We do not control this external content and are not responsible for it. A link does not necessarily mean that we endorse the linked site.

8. Newsletter and Account Features

Subscribing to our newsletter is voluntary, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe mechanism provided. Account features, such as saving articles, depend on the availability of the service and your account; we do not promise that saved content will be stored permanently. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, personal injury, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.

13. Suspension and Termination

We may restrict, suspend or close accounts in cases of abuse, security risks, illegal content, or serious or repeated breaches of these Terms. You can delete your own account at any time using the account features provided.
